My NEW biggest fear

I've had a lot of fears lately. First, I was afraid that we wouldn't even be close to naming our son by the time he was born. I would literally be up late having contractions while Moustapha was doing name meaning searches on thinkbabynames.com. We believe we've found our son's name now. So, I'm not worried about that anymore.

Then, I was worried that I would have the baby before my bedroom is ready. And, that still could happen. But, the gap of time has gotten smaller and if I go into labor right now I'd only have a couple of days out of the hospital when I couldn't go home. That's not so bad. So, I'm not worried about that anymore.

So, what's the current worry topping the list? Having to drive myself to the hospital while in labor. Because of the house stuff, Moustapha and I aren't together as much as we have been when I've been this far along in my previous pregnancies. I have a plan for my children in most every scenario. But, I started thinking today that some of my plans don't involve having anyone drive me. That could be a problem, right? I guess not, if it is early enough in labor. But, now my prayer is that I will somehow have an adult who is able to escort me when I am in labor. Or, that I'll be really close to the hospital when it happens. Home would obviously be the perfect place. So, I suppose my wish is still that my Baby El4 will wait until after I am settled at home to make his debut.
I can't wait to see his sweet baby face for the first time! What an amazing moment.

Goodnight, friends.

Regular contractions? - don't mean a thing!

Everyday I'm getting closer. I know that. But, the question remains: how close?

Last night it felt like I was getting really close. Here's my chart with some of my contractions:

Night of June 26
June 27 am

I finally had things ease up enough to sleep around 2am. Unfortunately, our boys woke up around 6am. Thankfully that is unusual. But, wow, am I tired? I hope I get some more rest before the actual labor begins.

Also, it looks like we hired some new painters that are supposedly professional and dependable. Pray they start and finish on time. Thursday through Sunday. So, anytime after next Sunday would be great for the baby to be born and then we can come straight home from the hospital and sleep in our brand new room. This week is going to be a little rough, because we will have to stay away from home. And, Bakri and Maddux still have swim lessons all week so I'll need to come to Houston everyday. The midwives want me at the hospital 4 hours before delivery. Let's hope I can make it from wherever I happen to be!

Until the next post...take care and have a great day!

Happy Saturday

It is a great day to be alive! I feel so blessed today. I seem to go through so many emotions at the end of a pregnancy. First, there is a lot of anxiety. Waiting for labor to begin naturally is a beautiful and wonderful gift. But, the unknown is scary and frustrating at times. Especially since I seem to have so many regular contractions all the time. I spend so much time and energy wondering "is this it?" It's exhausting.
But, more than anything, I am so thankful to be in this position. To have had such healthy pregnancies. To be able to carry my babies to full term. These are amazing gifts of life that I am extremely thankful for.

So, today, being 38 weeks pregnant, I am beyond thankful! I am so blessed and am choosing to focus on those blessings...there are too many to count!

Hope you all have a great Saturday! I'll update when the contractions are the real deal!

One day closer

I had a really great night's sleep last night. Yesterday we celebrated my parents' 50th wedding at Minute Maid Park. My nephew, James opened the game with a proud "Let's play ball!" And, my parents were honored by FSN and featured on television as the fans of the game. We had a great time. It was a 1pm game and Maddux and Trinity both fell asleep on the way home. They were both out for the night.
So, my sleep was restful and mostly uninterrupted.

I'm excited to know we are one day closer to meeting our baby boy. We are definitely going to be meeting him soon!

Early labor or not?

Well, this is my first attempt at a blogpost from my cell phone. I'm really just doing it to keep myself occupied.
I've been having consistent (every 10-15 minutes) contractions for the last 24 hours plus. I'm hoping, just because I am exhausted, that it either stops or we move on to the next stage of labor. I'm tired!
So, here's to a good night's rest and no contractions in the morning OR the real thing!

Good night, friends!

37 weeks and counting

Here I am...37 weeks and 3 days preggers. No, I'm not discouraged and no, I'm not tired of being pregnant. I am tired. That is definitely true. But, I'm happy. Everything has gone really well. And, the baby seems to be growing well and moving all the time. He's a busy guy. He will surely fit right in around here.

So, we are just gearing up for his arrival. I may have mentioned my room is finally being remodeled. Unfortunately, the first crew we hired didn't finish the job. That happened yesterday. But, at least we are closer to being finished and moved in. We now need a carpenter to finish the carpentry work in the room and a painter (who still has to finish sanding the newly sheetrocked walls) to paint the room. I'm trying not to be anxious about this. But, believe me when my contractions come each night at regular intervals, I begin to worry that my room is not going to be complete for me and the baby to come home to after our hospital stay. Please pray that it will be. I could really use the peace of knowing it is done. I know it is going to be beautiful, I just don't want it to be complete after the baby arrives.

Love to all of you who are checking in with us. We will keep you posted on the arrival of Baby EL4....he'll be here soon!
