We have a plan!

Together we made a plan!

For the last 2 weeks the Els have been talking to me about their plans. They love theme weeks so far and they can't wait to know what is coming next. They talk to me about what theme they want to do and what they want to do for each theme. Today we sat down and brainstormed some ideas together. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the weeks we've done so far. The list on the left are the Els' ideas. The list on the right are El Momma and Daddy's ideas. Then, the arrows put them together into themes. For example, the kids want to do a tennis week, baseball week and dancing week. So, we'll incorporate activities from each of these into "sports week" which will also be during the Summer Olympics. Perfect!

So, there is our very crazy looking plan. The great thing about a plan like this: it's written in chalk. Yep, we're flexible. We will definitely keep busy, but if we need to move things around, that will be easy to do.

Hope you are all having a great Summer. Let us know what you are up to and how you are keeping your little ones occupied.

El Momma and the Els

Rehearsing during Week 4- Music Performance Week

EL SUMMER - WEEK 4 of 12

El Summer theme weeks continued this week with Music Performance as our theme. We enjoyed preparing for a performance at our church of Disney Songs. We worked on a song from the movie Aladdin. Below is a video including some rehearsal pics, performance pics and the Els performance of the song "Never had a friend Like Me" from Aladdin. Let us know what you think. We had a great time working together this week. So far, I highly recommend "theme weeks!"
Have a blessed week.

El Momma

EL SUMMER - WEEK 3 of 12

Guest blogpost written by 5 year old El

"The theme of the week was music.
And, at Rockin Robin we saw a lot of guitars, more guitars than I ever saw.

And, today we went to Rice University in the music library. We played rock-paper-scissors with Grandmother and I made it on the 9th level. We saw lots of books, more than we have at our house and more than we ever saw. We listened to stories with music. We heard Peter and the Wolf. I heard the wolf music. I was scared.

We went to Pot Belly for lunch.

We went to the violin shop. I saw violins, more violins than I ever saw.

I had more fun than I ever had."

A note from El Momma:

Many thanks to Maddux for sharing his view of the happenings this week. We enjoyed exploring musical instruments and music. I found some suggestions of what to do this week at  http://music.rice.edu/ycd/res006.shtml
